Destiny Rivera, a member of the «Hands Off Cuba» Committee in the United States, stated to the ACN: «We start with our families, neighbors, schools, and universities; we need to share information, stories, and images to reveal the narratives that the U.S. government has worked hard to manipulate and deny.»
Italian activist Michele Curto told Prensa Latina that visible solidarity is a form of resistance: «The conviction that the homeland must be defended is more than just a phrase. It is time to say ‘I am Fidel,’ to defend this land together.»
Edgar Villanueva, a union representative from Venezuela, informed the ACN: «We are demonstrating through action that Cuba is not alone and it has the support of brothers from the Caribbean and other parts of the world.»
American youth Andrés Eugenio Sánchez from the «Hands Off Cuba» Committee remarked to the same outlet: «It is extremely unjust the cost that the entire people has to pay for defending national sovereignty and dignity, and that is why we cannot turn our backs right now.»
Rob Miller, leader of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the UK, expressed to the ACN that U.S. imperial policy poses a threat to the future of a world that should embrace peace.
Final Declaration
The 766 delegates from 36 countries, representing 152 organizations, signed a final declaration published by the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC). The text condemns: «The U.S. government, in its effort to preserve its declining hegemony, flagrantly and systematically violates international law, stoking conflicts, promoting military aggression, and waging wars for the plunder of natural resources.»
The declaration also rejects the new Executive Order from Donald Trump dated May 1, which imposes coercive measures against Cuba in key sectors such as energy, mining, and defense, underscoring: «No power will bend the will of those who carry Fidel in their hearts. The empire builds walls; we weave networks, hugs, and memories.»
