Criteria Poll: President Kast’s Approval Falls Four Points to 35%, While Disapproval Rises to 53%
The latest poll by Agenda Criteria, conducted on July 5, 2026, highlights a significant decline in the public image of President José Antonio Kast. His approval rating dropped by 4 points from the previous measurement (39%) to a new low of 35%, while disapproval has increased by 2 points, reaching 53%, indicating a concerning downward trend at La Moneda.
Notably, the survey reveals that 54% of respondents believe that the government’s economic management has been worse or much worse than expected, and 56% echo similar sentiments regarding job creation. Despite these criticisms, 40% of participants attribute the current economic challenges primarily to issues inherited from the previous administration.
In terms of public priorities, the demand for more jobs and better wages has doubled in importance over the year, increasing from 8% in March to 16% in July as the top concern, placing it second only to security (31%). The perception of the country’s economic situation has also worsened, with 52% believing it is worse than it was six months ago, 43% seeing a decline in their household’s situation, and 57% finding it more difficult to find or improve employment.
Legislatively, the survey shows that Manuel José Ossandón, Luciano Cruz-Coke, and Rodolfo Carter lead in public recognition at 80%, with Juan Luis Castro (69%), Cristián Vial (64%), and Alejandra Sepúlveda (63%) receiving the highest evaluations. In the combined ranking of awareness and evaluation, mayors dominate the list, led by Tomás Vodanovic, according to the results from the Agenda Criteria poll on July 5.
