Original article: “O la eliminamos ya o estamos jodidos”: Fiscalía confirma mensaje hallado en celular de Cerimedo mientras enfrenta causa por tentativa de femicidio
The Bolivian Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the message: «O la eliminamos ya o estamos jodidos», was discovered on the mobile phone of Fernando Cerimedo, a political operator linked to Latin America’s far-right, who is currently facing charges for the attempted femicide of his ex-partner Nadia Beller, a survivor of a shooting incident that occurred last Monday in Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
Cerimedo was arrested on Tuesday at the Viru Viru International Airport just hours after the attack on Beller, as he was attempting to flee to Buenos Aires after being accused of hiring the hitmen responsible for the shooting. He remains in police custody.
Página/12 reported that on Thursday, Beller’s lawyer provided a screenshot from Cerimedo’s notes, which included an entry stating: «nos vendió Nadia. O la eliminamos ya o estamos jodidos. Conoces a alguien que pueda hacer ese trabajo?» Prosecutor Yolanda Aguilera, part of the investigative team, confirmed to the outlet that the message indicating premeditation was indeed found on the phone of the consultant and advisor to far-right figures such as Javier Milei in Argentina, Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, Rodrigo Paz in Bolivia, and Nasry Asfura in Honduras.
Beller’s attorney, Jerjes Justiniano, a former minister under Jeanine Áñez, presented a series of messages Cerimedo allegedly sent to the victim prior to the assassination attempt carried out by hitmen outside the SwissHotel in Santa Cruz.
The exchanged messages reveal a previous dispute in which Cerimedo sought to dissuade his ex-partner from going public about the physical abuse she had endured, warning her: «vos publicás eso y me arruinás la vida. Me pego un corchazo, no me interesa nada». Beller responded assertively: «No me manipulás más. Yo no tengo por qué cuidarte. No después de cómo vos sos conmigo. Así que hacelo nomás. Todos van a saber la verdad».
The messages also show Cerimedo’s insistence: «Nos vas a cagar la vida a todos, a tu hija, a nuestro hijo, a todos», revealing a conflict between the two relating to their romantic relationship and Beller’s pregnancy.
The content in the notes extends beyond their personal relationship, suggesting shady «business» ties to mining and construction, as Cerimedo wrote to an unknown interlocutor: «No digas a nadie. Pero nos vendió la amiga de Enrique. ¿Te acordás? La Nadia», indicating that the attack may be linked to larger economic interests beyond their relationship.
This discovery, emerging from the investigation into the attempted femicide against Nadia Beller, has become a central piece of evidence against Cerimedo. However, the hearing to determine his legal situation had to be delayed due to an unexpected emotional collapse of the defendant.
When Cerimedo was escorted, handcuffed and wearing a hooded sweatshirt, to the 20th Criminal Instruction Court in Santa Cruz, he experienced a breakdown that caused him to curl up in a corner next to an elevator. While journalists asked questions, the political consultant remained with his face against the elevator door, simply shaking or nodding his head in response to claims that the case was politically motivated.
Considering his apparent inability to testify, the judge decided to suspend the session, call for a medical evaluation, and reschedule the hearing for 2:30 PM (Bolivian time) this Friday, leaving pending the decision on the preventive detention requested by the prosecutor for 180 days.
According to Página/12, Thursday also brought new developments in the investigation into illicit enrichment against Cerimedo in La Paz, following a court order from prosecutor Carlos Torres to conduct a search of a residence in an upscale area, where the equivalent of $50,000 in boliviano currency, dollars, and euros was found, along with a bot farm used to generate thousands of messages on social media through fake accounts created by Cerimedo, similar to those the consultant admitted to using during Javier Milei’s electoral campaign.
This discovery, along with the evidence from the notes, has given new momentum to the investigations, which judicial sources say have accelerated following Nadia Beller’s own testimonies, while awaiting results from two additional searches.
In the 22-page formal charges presented by the prosecutor, the elements supporting the request for preventive detention are detailed, including Beller’s three gunshot wounds, Cerimedo’s insistence for her to go to the hotel, and the fact that the accused was attempting to flee to Buenos Aires on an Aerolíneas Argentinas flight scheduled to depart at 2 AM, being apprehended an hour earlier at Santa Cruz airport.
The prosecutor claims that Cerimedo did not want to assume the consequences of fatherhood and that there is a history of physical violence in June and July, while the defense acknowledges these attacks but minimizes them as «personal incidents», arguing that there is no evidence linking the consultant to the hitmen, although the judge must decide this Friday if the compelling messages found on his phone are sufficient to keep him behind bars for the next 180 days.
