Original article: ¿Podrá la metralla asesinar estos ángeles?
By Ricardo Ronquillo, from Cuba
Children are painting, and the adults are left to ponder… At these ages, drawings often serve as a challenge.
Anyone who reviews a series of these drawings, after witnessing the joy they bring to their young creators at the Juventud Rebelde newsroom, cannot help but feel a shiver.
Could one day shrapnel extinguish the creative spirit of such innocence? Can some heartless individuals, blinded by their thirst for power, machine-gun this happiness?… Can bombs, on a regular morning, puncture their aspirations?
These are simple strokes, reminiscent of what we all remember from our own childhood, that small phase of life, bursting with imagination and fantasies, when we wanted to be the heroes of good, swordsmen of justice, archers of chance, little princes of fairness.

Will those doves, which they draw in various colors and shapes, until they form a tender flock, ever explode on their drawings?
Will strange birds of death creep through the wounded bodies of those noble, destroyed birds?
No. No one with a noble soul could believe such a scene is possible… To conceive or provoke such a tableau, one must possess a truly wicked heart… One must have a very malevolent soul, vastly different from that of the pioneers of the Frank País primary school and their mentors from the newspaper.
But beware, this world already carries too many sinister images of its own making… Too many times the good and right angel has been defeated by the twisted one.
