Original article: Carabineros dijo «no» al reintegro de Claudio Crespo a sus filas
A report from La Tercera revealed that Carabineros has rejected the request for reinstatement from former officer Claudio Crespo, who was acquitted of shooting and blinding Gustavo Gatica (now a member of parliament) due to a controversial application of the «Naín Retamal Law.»
Following his acquittal, Crespo announced his intention to return to the police force, but weeks later, the response from Carabineros was negative, according to the news outlet.
Specifically, Carabineros stated that «there is no legal or regulatory provision for the immediate reinstatement of personnel who were placed on temporary retirement,» emphasizing that Crespo «has been on temporary retirement for more than three years, which becomes an absolute retirement.»
«Therefore, based on the aforementioned considerations, it is not possible to grant the request,» the document issued by the Personnel Department of the uniformed institution stated, as cited by La Tercera. See the full report HERE.
