The fragile truce in the geopolitics of the Middle East has completely evaporated. In recent hours, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) initiated a significant offensive against key US installations in the Persian Gulf and Jordan, in direct response to the thirteenth consecutive round of bombings ordered by Washington against Iran.
What President Donald Trump described on Wednesday as «minor skirmishes» has erupted into an open military confrontation with cross-border strikes.
Iran Leaves US Military Infrastructure in the Middle East «Completely Destroyed»
The Iranian retaliation operation, dubbed Saeqeh (Lightning), targeted two US military strongholds. According to official statements from the IRGC, Arash attack drones struck the Sheikh Isa airbase in Bahrain, where projectiles hit fuel tanks, equipment storage, large hangars, and troop accommodations. Simultaneously, the Al Azraq base in Jordan was also attacked, with aircraft hangars, maintenance facilities, and soldier deployments becoming priority targets, reported RT.
Meanwhile, under the 27th wave of Operation Nasr-2 (Victory-2), the offensive extended to Kuwait, where the IRGC reported that a large ammunition depot at the Ali Al Salem base was «completely destroyed» using «heavy latest-generation attack drones.» It also noted that their strikes obliterated six large personnel hangars and severely damaged three others, resulting in an unconfirmed toll of «a large number» of American military casualties.
The catalyst for this massive response was a barrage of American airstrikes that shook Iranian territory in the early hours of the morning. Between 3:15 and 3:40 (local time), US aviation attacked multiple locations, including Khandab, Taft, and Shirkuh in Yazd province, Anarak in Isfahan, Borujerd in Lorestan, as well as Jask and Konarak in the coastal provinces of Hormozgan and Sistan and Baluchistan, according to the Tasnim news agency.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) justified the operation as part of its thirteenth consecutive assault, aimed at command centers, drone storage, communications networks, coastal surveillance posts, and maritime capabilities of the Revolutionary Guard, in an effort to systematically degrade the military infrastructure of its adversary.
Cross Threats Between Iran and the US
Trump, rather than seeking de-escalation, warned that bombers would continue until Iranian military capabilities were reduced, cautioning that for every attack on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, the US will bomb a bridge or a power plant in Iran, and will not hesitate to destroy energy plants and economic targets if Tehran refuses to negotiate.
The IRGC’s response was swift, making it clear that they are preparing an operation whose consequences Washington will «regret» if attacks persist. They also stated that they will not allow the export of «a single drop of oil», threatening to turn oil, gas, electricity, and economic infrastructures across the region into legitimate military targets, as reported by RT.
The situation has spiraled into a confrontation that no party seems willing to halt. While CENTCOM announced a resumption of the naval blockade of Iranian ports, the Revolutionary Guard issued a troubling warning to civilians in countries hosting US troops, urging them to stay at least 500 meters away from any location where US personnel are «covertly housed», signaling that upcoming attacks could multiply and extend to more locations.
With Iran acting under the pretext of violations of the memorandum of understanding by Washington, and the White House determined to militarily subdue the Islamic Republic, the Gulf has become a theater of conflict with global implications.
