Original article: “Los niños merecen protección y verdad”: Comunidad Haitiana rechaza acusaciones sin pruebas y alerta sobre estigmatización infantil
The Haitian Community Organization in Chile has voiced its concern regarding reports circulating about an alleged trafficking network involving Haitian children. The group emphasized the importance of safeguarding children’s rights, preventing the stigmatization of minors and migrant communities, and called for any investigations to be conducted with transparency, objectivity, and respect for due process.
In light of the recent reports from various media outlets about a supposed trafficking network targeting Haitian children in the country, the Haitian Community Organization urged a responsible and rigorous approach to the situation, underscoring the need for full respect for the rights of children.

Through a public statement, the organization stressed the necessity to recognize that above any political, media, or ideological considerations, these are children—individuals who hold fundamental rights, whose dignity, safety, and well-being must be protected at all times.
In this context, the organization warned that no minor should be exploited to incite fear, increase viewership, or promote narratives that could foster discrimination and social division. It emphasized that child protection must take precedence over any other interest.
The organization stated that if there are grounds for an investigation, it is the responsibility of relevant institutions to clarify the facts with transparency, objectivity, and strict adherence to due process. It added that every complaint must be investigated thoroughly, but no person or community should be condemned publicly without conclusive evidence.
Furthermore, the Haitian Community in Chile categorically rejected any attempts to stigmatize Haitian children or to assign collective responsibility to families, governments, or entire communities for actions that, it noted, have not yet been substantiated by the justice system. The organization reiterated that Haitian community children are, first and foremost, children and deserve the same respect, protection, and consideration as any other child residing in Chile.
Finally, the group expressed concerns about the repercussions that baseless accusations can have, warning that false or hasty information can reinforce prejudices, fuel xenophobic attitudes, and seriously impact the educational, familial, and social lives of the minors involved. Accordingly, it argued that no child should bear the burden of unfounded allegations or become the center of discussions that violate their dignity and fundamental rights.
