Original article: Folk nortino con reflexión: Compositora Gianella del Toro estrena su nuevo sencillo «Cuando me haga polvo»
Chilean singer-songwriter Gianella del Toro has just released her new single and music video, «Cuando me haga polvo.» This artistic piece explores the human relationship with death from an intimate and thoughtful perspective, arising from questions about memory, the impact each person leaves on loved ones, and how one faces the idea of departure, transforming fear into a sensitive reflection on existence.
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Génesis Irribarra and produced by Moisés Maldonado, with executive production by Umbranza Music and Red Pública. The visual features dancer Anabelle Ruiz portraying death, adding a symbolic dimension to the audiovisual narrative. The cinematography was handled by Daniela Tapia.
Musically, «Cuando me haga polvo» started as an exploration of electronic sounds, but during its development, it found an identity connected to the cultural roots of northern Chile.
The result integrates rhythms and textures inspired by the popular festivals of the Tarapacá Region, incorporating traditional orchestral sounds commonly found in community celebrations.
In this way, instruments like the violin, saxophone, and accordion engage in a dialogue with contemporary elements to create an atmosphere that blends local culture with modern sensitivity, allowing the song to shift between festive and contemplative tones, reinforcing its inspirational message.

The music production was led by iquiquean engineer and producer Esteban Jara. Additionally, the recording brought together musicians from various cities across the country, including Roderick Soza on bass, Víctor Monje on drums, Alen Carrizo on piano, Patricio Pincheira on Andean winds, Hans Vásquez on violin, along with Tomás Corvalán on saxophone and Franco Silva on charango.
As a singer, composer, and musical manager, Gianella del Toro has developed a trajectory linked to Latin American rooted music, also serving as a mentor and director for various artistic projects. Her work is characterized by the composition of original repertoire and the pursuit of proposals connected to the cultural identity of her surroundings.
Currently, the artist has two singles and an acoustic EP available on digital platforms and is progressing on the production of her first studio album, expected to be released in September this year.
In parallel, she has been selected to participate in the National School of Rock Festival, where she is preparing a stage proposal that resonates with the themes present in her new creations.
