Founded in 2013, this prestigious competition brings together national teams from over 50 countries, highlighting technical excellence and narrative skill across various photographic disciplines. The 2026 edition took place on April 25 in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík, featuring the presence of Iceland’s President Halla Tómasdóttir, alongside the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) and support from major brands like Leica, Sony, and Canon.

The winning image is part of Zamorano’s documentation of the social protests that took place in 2019 in downtown Santiago. His work has been displayed at the Museum of Memory (2021) and in Germany (2023), establishing a focus on capturing contemporary social processes. Furthermore, some of his works are permanently featured in the online repository of the Museum of Social Explosion www.museodelestallidosocial.org.
