These awards elevate «Raza Brava» alongside other significant productions backed by major European companies such as BBC, RAI Fiction, France Télévisions, ZDF, and ORF.
Hernán Caffiero, the director, boasts an International Emmy award for «Una historia necesaria» and two nominations in the same competition. With «Raza Brava,» he achieves an important milestone in the official selection for the Berlin and Guadalajara film festivals.
«We aimed to portray a profound and popular South America that has long channeled its pains and joys through football as a beacon of hope. This is not just a series about football; it’s about how power is constructed on the fringes of society. It tells a story of power, violence, friendship, and survival during and after the dictatorship in Chile,» Caffiero remarked on «Raza Brava.»

Set in a neighborhood of Santiago deeply affected by football and the Pinochet dictatorship, 11-year-olds Carlos and Clavo forge a friendship intertwined with violence and loyalty.
As the community endures curfews and deprivation, football becomes a haven. When Carlos goes missing during the curfew while helping Clavo find his lost dog, his elder brother Vladi is arrested for searching for him. The fates of the dog and Carlos’s brother mark the end of childhood for both boys.
Now young adults, they join the Colo-Colo supporters group and witness The Garra Blanca’s rise. As Chile undergoes changes with the plebiscite and the arrival of democracy, the supporters’ power grows. Carlos, nicknamed «Barti», becomes a leader after the historic chief’s death. Under his command, the group gains popularity, demands resources, and becomes more violent, troubling officials and authorities.
Meanwhile, Barti begins a relationship with Gabi, a childhood friend. Clavo distances himself and is manipulated by the leadership to undermine Barti. A trip to Argentina culminates in a clash with police, arrests, and international exposure. While Clavo rises as a leader in prison, Barti tries to rebuild his life but is pushed into one final, brutal confrontation when Gabi is threatened. A violent clash between Barti and Clavo within the supporter group makes headlines worldwide.
