Chinese President Xi Jinping reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace and dialogue, presenting four key initiatives aimed at reducing tension in Western Asia.
First, the President emphasized the need to adhere to the principle of peaceful coexistence, highlighting that the countries in the region are interdependent neighbors, thereby requiring collective efforts to improve their relationships.
He underscored the urgency of building a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security architecture.
Xi also called for a strong commitment to the principle of national sovereignty, stating that it must not be compromised as it serves as the foundation for all nations, particularly developing ones, to thrive.
According to Xinhua, Xi Jinping insisted that «the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Middle Eastern countries and those in the Gulf must be fully respected,» while stressing that «the safety of personnel, facilities, and institutions from all nations must be effectively safeguarded.»
At the same time, he proposed that the authority of international law must be respected, rejecting selective enforcement to prevent a regression to a state of a «jungle law.»
The President firmly called for the protection of the international system, with the United Nations (UN) at its core.
In this context, he emphasized the importance of respecting an international order grounded in law and the fundamental norms of international relations as outlined by the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
Furthermore, he stated that development and security must be coordinated, as each contributes to enhancing the other.
For the Chinese president, «all parties must work together to foster a favorable environment for the development of Western Asian nations.»
He reiterated that his country is ready to share the opportunities generated by its modernization process to strengthen the foundations of regional development and security.
On Tuesday, Xi met in Beijing with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Following the meeting, he emphasized that the UAE is a comprehensive strategic partner of China, which has always placed great importance on developing bilateral relations.
Thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, the ties between China and the UAE have maintained a healthy and stable development, witnessing increased political mutual trust, ever-intensifying practical cooperation, and rich person-to-person exchanges, Xi noted.
Xi stated that China is willing to work with the UAE to build a more dynamic comprehensive strategic partnership, urging both parties to support each other on matters related to their core interests and major concerns, and to maintain high-level exchanges to solidify mutual strategic trust.
The Chinese president urged both sides to enhance the coordination of their development strategies and harness mutually beneficial cooperation potential in areas such as energy, investment, trade, science and technology, and beyond.
Xi added that both countries should promote further cooperation in education, civil aviation, tourism, and other fields to boost personal exchanges and strengthen public support.
Simultaneously, the Chinese leader called for improved coordination and collaboration in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and BRICS.
In line with this, Sheikh Khaled expressed that his country is ready to work with China to deepen cooperation across various sectors and explore broader prospects for bilateral relations to benefit the peoples of both nations.
He expressed appreciation for the responsible and constructive role that Beijing plays in international affairs and its active efforts to seek political solutions to the current crisis in Western Asia amidst the Israel-US conflict with Iran.
«The UAE is committed to maintaining close communication and coordination with China to promote a ceasefire among stakeholders, restore peace and stability in the region at the earliest, safeguard the security of international maritime transport, and prevent further impacts on the global economy and energy security,» Sheikh Khaled stated, according to reports from Xinhua.
