Israel intensifies its aggression against Gaza through a sand barrier that divides the region and confining two million Palestinians into an increasingly smaller area.
In recent months, the Israeli military has constructed a several-meter-high barrier along the so-called Yellow Line, a de facto border that not only physically represents the geographical division of Gaza but also signifies a new phase of an occupation that already controls over 60% of the strip, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatening to extend this to 70%.
The construction of this sand structure, of which 23 kilometers have already been completed, reflects a strategy of silent and gradual annexation, according to the Associated Press, which also includes areas occupied by Israeli troops that have been destroyed through continuous bombardments against Gaza and the use of heavy machinery.
«Some images suggest that the barrier is being built in uninhabited areas where only rubble or unusable infrastructure remains,» reported ElDiario.Es.

According to satellite records from Planet Labs, the wall extends across significant sectors of the Palestinian enclave, marking a clear division between the eastern areas controlled by Israeli forces and the western regions. This infrastructure represents the implementation of a 20-point plan imposed by the U.S. for the October 2025 ceasefire, which promised a withdrawal of Israel in a second phase but was never fulfilled, and for which the Trump administration exerted no pressure for compliance.
Tel Aviv claims that the wall, equipped with surveillance and espionage technology, is intended to prevent «infiltrations» by Hamas fighters and protect its troops and border communities. However, the wall, standing between 10 and 15 meters high, restricts not only the Palestinian population – about 2 million people forced into the west – but also transforms the construction area into a death ring.
Witnesses and relatives reported to EFE that troops fired daily at the camps of displaced persons in Mawasi, in the south, during construction activities. One of these shots, which pierced the plastic roof of a tent, took the life of Moataz, a 9-year-old boy, while he was with his mother.
The construction of the barrier has been accompanied by a surge in violence since the «intense Israeli bombing campaign that ended in October 2025, claiming over 70,000 lives, including more than 20,000 minors,» reports El Diario.Es.
It noted that airstrikes against alleged Hamas targets near the Yellow Line have increased, where civilians – including children – are the most frequent victims.
The situation is becoming even more explosive with the resurgence of the settlers’ movement. Hundreds of ultranationalist activists, supported by government ministers like the far-right Itamar Ben Gvir, marched to the border wall demanding the reinstatement of illegal settlements in Gaza that were dismantled in 2005.
The lack of action from Israeli security forces in the face of this provocation reveals an official complicity that makes the sand columns the foundation for a new and dangerous phase of colonization. What was once a temporary barricade is now shaping into the basis of a new political map in Gaza, enforced through power, where separation and confinement are the norms.
