Controversial Video Sparks Outrage as Deputy Pizarro Files Complaint Over Sexual Remarks About Children and Teens
Following the controversial video involving the former legislative advisor of the Libertarian National Party, Ítalo Omegna, Deputy Lorena Pizarro of the Communist Party announced that she has officially reported to the Children’s Advocate, Anuar Quesille, regarding sexual remarks concerning children and adolescents and references to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The recorded footage circulated on social media shows Omegna alongside the panelists from the streaming program «La Cofradía» and other participants making mocking sexual comments about minors and children with ASD.
The video’s viral spread prompted a wave of criticism from organizations, political leaders, and social media users, leading the lawyer to resign from his position as a parliamentary advisor to deputy Hans Marowski (PNL). Meanwhile, the Mises Institute Cono Sur announced his separation from the role he held as Head of Connections.
In light of this situation, Deputy Pizarro warned that individuals like the former advisor of the PNL pose a “real danger to children.”
“We all saw how this libertarian man, Omegna by name, who until recently was a parliamentary advisor, made comments promoting pedophilia and mocking autistic children. Truly, there are no words to describe the revulsion this represents,” she said in a message shared on her social media.
“Yes, the ‘libertarians’, the ones who talk about morality and good customs,” she emphasized.
For this reason, the parliamentarian reported that she contacted the Children’s Advocate to formally request that they “act with the appropriate proportionality in response to such abhorrent acts.”
In her official correspondence, Pizarro requested a statement and background concerning the video disseminated on July 24, in which Ítalo Omegna, then Chief of Staff for Deputy Hans Marowski (PNL), made repeated sexual innuendos regarding children and adolescents, including explicit mentions of minors with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
She noted that Emiliano Fernández and Fernando Ortiz, also participants in the streaming program «La Cofradía» and associated with the PNL, appeared in the same audiovisual recording.
“The described actions are especially serious as they involve sexual content aimed at minors, particularly at children with disabilities, which could impact their dignity, their best interests, and their right to not be discriminated against or objectified, guarantees whose promotion and protection fall squarely on that Advocacy as per Law No. 21,067,” she stated in the notice shared on her Instagram.
Children’s Advocate Evaluates Actions Against Former PNL Advisor
Children’s Advocate Anuar Quesille expressed his “most categorical repulsion and condemnation” regarding the dissemination of the video featuring the former advisor who trivializes sexual abuse against children and contains offensive remarks towards children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
In a video posted on social media, the advocate stated that Omegna’s remarks “trivialize one of the most serious forms of violence against children” and made it clear that there is no room for humor regarding these acts.
“One of the most significant issues facing the protection of children and adolescents in Chile is sexual violence. Therefore, in this context and in no other are jokes acceptable, nor can a matter as delicate as sexual abuse be trivialized,” Quesille stated.
He reported that the advocacy office is currently “evaluating actions and potential responsibilities,” as the mere separation of an individual from their role in Congress is insufficient, and a “clear, verifiable, and sustained commitment to the protection of children and adolescents” is required from the coalition as a whole.
