Original article: Justicia declara admisible querella de Irací Hassler contra Desbordes por denuncia calumniosa
The Seventh Court of Guarantee in Santiago has accepted the defamation lawsuit filed by congresswoman Irací Hassler (PC) against Santiago Mayor Mario Desbordes (RN).
Hassler praised the court’s decision, stating on her social media that «regardless of his opinions, the Sierra Bella case was investigated and dismissed by the justice system, clearing all false accusations.»
«Judicial resolutions must be respected and not utilized for political gain,» added the former mayor of Santiago.
As reported by El Ciudadano, Hassler’s lawsuit is a response to Desbordes’ attempts to launch a new «judicial offensive» regarding the failed purchase of the property located on Sierra Bella Street, despite the case having already concluded with Hassler’s exoneration after the absence of any criminal offenses.
«The mayor is trying to manipulate the justice system for political points regarding matters that have already been investigated and resolved with a firm decision,» stated the communist congresswoman, accusing Desbordes of instigating a smear campaign and a «systematic political persecution» against her.
