Inspired by the Global Sumud Flotilla that headed to Gaza in 2025, the Progressive International coalition announced that the Nuestra América International Flotilla will set sail for Cuba in March to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to the Cuban people amid the intensification of the US blockade on the island.

The initiative has launched its website nuestraamericaflotilla.org, calling on all social organizations to join and support this vital mission.

«It is more than a mission. It is a movement. Together, we can break the siege, save lives, and defend the cause of Cuba’s self-determination,» states the Flotilla’s introduction.

They further emphasized that «the Trump administration is choking the island by cutting off fuel supplies, flights, and essential goods for survival. The consequences are lethal for newborns and their families, as well as the elderly and the sick.»

In this context, David Adler, a Jewish-American member of the Progressive International who traveled to Gaza with the Sumud Flotilla, told El Diario de España, «when governments impose collective punishments, ordinary people have the responsibility to act.»

«Today we prepare to sail towards Cuba for the same reason we traveled with the Global Sumud Flotilla to Gaza: to break the blockade, deliver food and medicine, and show that solidarity can cross any border or sea. The impacts of the U.S. blockade are visible in empty pharmacies, canceled flights, and families without electricity or fuel,» Adler added.

Thiago Avila, another advocate of the Global Sumud Flotilla, stressed that in both Gaza and Cuba, «it is the civilian population that bears the brunt of collective punishment,» adding that the aim is not only to deliver aid but also to «convey the message that the Cuban people are not alone.»

Lastly, British Parliament member Jeremy Corbyn, also a member of the Progressive International, highlighted that the U.S. blockade has sought to suffocate the Cuban example for over six decades, a country that, despite relentless economic pressure, built a universal healthcare system and boasts a life expectancy comparable to or even greater than that of the United States.

«It is essential to demand the right of every nation to live, develop, and decide its own future free from intimidation,» Corbyn emphasized.
