Deputy Daniela Serrano Calls for Justice and Public Security Ministers to Join ‘Protected Schools’ Project Discussion

Head of the PC caucus and member of the Education Commission in the Chamber of Deputies, Deputy Daniela Serrano, has requested that Ministers Trinidad Steinert (Public Security) and Fernando Rabat (Justice) participate in discussions regarding the initiative known as ‘Protected Schools’.

This government proposal seeks to implement measures such as inspecting clothing and backpacks in schools and revoking free education for students who engage in violent behavior.

Deputy Serrano emphasized, «In this discussion, we have not heard from the Minister of Public Security, and since we are talking about the deployment of police forces, it is essential to have her input. Furthermore, she is also the one who endorses this presidential message.»

«Additionally, I believe it is crucial to get a statement from the Ministry of Justice. There are procedural regulations included in the project, and I have serious doubts about their constitutionality, so it would be important to review this with them,» the legislator added.
