Original article: Ecuador le muestra tarjeta roja a Noboa: 75% desaprueba su gestión y 66% la califica como “pésima”
Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa is experiencing a significant decline in popularity, as a national survey conducted by Maluk Research has revealed a strong disapproval of his government.
According to the opinion poll released over the weekend, only 22.49% of Ecuadorians support the right-wing president’s administration, while a staggering 75.46% disapproves, reflecting a widespread climate of dissatisfaction with his leadership.
Delving deeper into the qualitative evaluation of the presidential performance, the survey results, conducted between June 1 and June 16, 2026, using Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI), reveal even more telling figures.
Respondents rated Noboa’s performance on a scale from one to seven, with the option «Poor» being selected by the majority, reaching 66.44%. This statistic not only confirms the majority rejection but also indicates that the intensity of dissatisfaction is extremely high.
In contrast, there were significantly lower positive ratings, emphasizing the bleak outlook for Noboa’s administration. Only 9.07% of respondents rated his management as «excellent», while 7.86% considered it «very good». Additionally, a mere 5.56% deemed it «good», and 6.04% rated it as «very bad».
According to TeleSUR, the provincial analysis shows that disapproval is widespread across the country, irrespective of regional differences. In Pichincha, home to the capital Quito, disapproval reaches 72.57%, while approval stands at just 26.38%. This result is especially noteworthy, as it illustrates the fragile support for the president even in the heart of political power. Similarly, in Guayas, the most significant electoral stronghold, disapproval is 72.79%, with approval at a mere 25.77%.
The situation becomes even more critical in other key provinces. Azuay records one of the highest disapproval rates at 78.99%, with approval at only 20.91%. However, the most concerning scenario for Noboa is found in Manabí, where only 11.87% approve of his management, while disapproval skyrockets to 85.55%.
A fact that reinforces the significance of these results is that in all surveyed provinces, the percentage of neutral responses and those who claimed to be unfamiliar with or unaware of the presidential administration are minimal. This indicates that the citizenry has formed clear and informed opinions about the president’s performance, eliminating any possibility of attributing the rejection to a lack of information or indifference.
Overall, the data from Maluk Research, which involved a national sample of 4,000 citizens, paints a highly complex picture for Daniel Noboa, who took office promising renewal and profound changes but now faces a significant popular discontent that cuts across all regions and social strata of the country. With a disapproval rate exceeding three-quarters of the population and a «poor» rating nearing two-thirds, his governability is severely compromised.
The results coincide with the activation of a new state of emergency for 60 days across ten provinces and three cantons, renewing an exceptional regime that has become recurrent during his administration.
