Four Arrested During Protest Amid President Kast’s Visit to Concepción Market

At least four individuals were arrested during a demonstration held by a group of people in Concepción protesting President José A. Kast’s visit to the city’s market ruins.

According to national media reports from Radio ADN, the incidents occurred after the event had concluded and the presidential entourage was leaving the area. Around 25 individuals—reported to be students—gathered to express their opposition to the President’s presence.

Canal 13 reported that «during the event, protesters shouted slogans against Kast, while police monitored the situation. The arrests were made once the presidential procession had departed. The reason for the police action was due to an alleged offense against authority,» the report stated.

Protests Also Occurred in Talcahuano

Prior to the incident in Concepción, the President faced another protest against him in Talcahuano, led by health workers who expressed their discontent over budget cuts initiated by the government.

Specifically, the organizations Fenats, Fenprus, and Confusam showcased their discontent at the Door of Los Leones, just before Kast’s arrival at Asmar, where he participated in the launch ceremony of the vessel LPD 93 Magallanes.
