In Wake of CFA Report, Manouchehri (PS) Urges Withdrawal of ‘Super Rich Law’ and Calls for National Agreement on Growth and Development

Following a critical report from the Autonomous Fiscal Council presented at the Finance Committee session in the Chamber of Deputies last Tuesday, which opposed the government’s proposed economic omnibus bill, Deputy Daniel Manouchehri (PS) urged President José Antonio Kast to withdraw the initiative. He also called for a national agreement to create a viable proposal for growth, employment, and development.

“What we are currently witnessing is that institutions such as the Autonomous Fiscal Council and the International Monetary Fund are indicating to the country that the ‘Super Rich Law’ as proposed by the government is not just a poor project, but a risk for Chile. It poses a fiscal threat,” he warned.

In this context, Manouchehri emphasized that “the serious step the President should take is to prioritize the interests of the country over his own narrow interests. The government must withdraw this project and bring all stakeholders to a serious technical table to develop a project that can genuinely foster growth, employment, and development for our nation.”

“This would be the responsible action for a President of the Republic. Instead, we see today that significant institutions are warning that this project could lead our country to the edge of a precipice,” added Deputy Manouchehri.
