In recent hours, several video records went viral on social media showing President José A. Kast in a heated argument with a child and his mother in Villarrica. According to various media reports, the woman ended up being detained by the Carabineros.

As reported, the incident reportedly started when the child refused to greet Kast, prompting the president to become upset and question the mother, who allegedly responded with remarks such as: «You have all the Chileans wrong, you have everyone in the country upset with everything you are doing, and he is aware of it.»

«You are a Nazi, you have the elderly without pensions, and you are taking away school meals from the children,» were among the criticisms the resident directed at Kast, who responded by criticizing her for «bringing her child and exposing him to this (…) I feel sorry for you, young one. Stay strong and have faith; never let yourself be intimidated, never. And do not let your mother use you,» the visibly agitated president was heard saying to the child.

On social media, users harshly criticized the president’s behavior. Some pointed out that this incident occurred right after a controversial discussion about Haitian children and the tragic death of a 12-year-old Chilean boy in a kidnapping in Santiago. «And the president? Confronting a child in Villarrica,» remarked one of the many users who commented on the situation.
