An investigative report published by Fast Check has disclosed that Senator Loreto Carvajal (PPD) has increased her real estate wealth by 14 times in less than a decade.
Specifically, Fast Check analyzed the senator’s assets and traced the evolution of her properties from 2018 to 2026: «The analysis shows that the assessed value of her properties rose from $87 million to over $1.271 billion.»
According to the records analyzed by Fast Check during this period, Carvajal acquired dozens of properties through individual purchases and co-ownerships; she declared liabilities amounting to $769 million and, along with her partner, former deputy Gabriel Silber (linked to the «Belarus scheme» with former Minister Vivanco), paid over $250 million in cash to purchase a house in Lo Barnechea.
The parliamentarian has also faced an investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for omitting two apartments in her 2019 Declaration of Interests and Assets, a case from which she was later absolved.
Furthermore, the Fast Check report adds that «while the Aysén Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Senator Loreto Carvajal for alleged payments made in exchange for interventions in judicial appointments,»
