Iran and the United States (U.S.) have digitally signed a memorandum of understanding that lays the groundwork for comprehensive negotiations covering everything from the nuclear issue to the lifting of sanctions, the reopening of the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, and the release of frozen funds.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, confirmed on Wednesday the digital signing of the document, dispelling rumors regarding an in-person ceremony in Switzerland that will not take place.
In statements released by Iranian media, he revealed that the presidents of both nations have signed the anticipated agreement, although the logistics of the negotiations are still on track.
