Original article: Irán responde a Washington: exige fin de sanciones, garantías de no agresión y levantamiento del bloqueo naval
Iran’s Response to the United States (U.S.) regarding the sealing of a pact and ending the war includes demands to end sanctions, guarantees of non-aggression, and the lifting of the naval blockade.
It is important to remember that the military conflict began on February 28, when the U.S. and Israel launched attacks against the Islamic nation, resulting in the deaths of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders, high-ranking nuclear scientists, and Iranian civilians, including women and children.
In retaliation, Iran initiated a counter-operation called “True Promise 4” against Israeli territory and U.S. bases in Arab Gulf countries.
After 40 days of crossfire, both parties reached a two-week truce on April 8, which was indefinitely extended by Washington, despite unsuccessful negotiations in Pakistan due to excessive demands and violations of the ceasefire by U.S. President Donald Trump who imposed a naval blockade on Iran and attacked vessels from the Persian country. This led Tehran to decide to restrict passage through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s traded oil flows, making it clear that it will not return to negotiations until the White House lifts the maritime blockade.
According to information released by the Tasnim news agency, the Islamic nation responded to the latest draft of the plan presented by Washington to end the conflict that has impacted Western Asia and the global energy market while negotiations continue under Pakistan’s mediation.

Among the demands presented by Persian authorities are an immediate end to the war on all fronts and guarantees that Iran will not face further aggression; the lifting of sanctions imposed by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); and the full resumption of Iranian oil exports. Additionally, they seek to manage the Strait of Hormuz; as well as a end to the naval blockade instituted by the Trump administration, immediately after both parties sign the initial understanding agreement.
From Tehran, they also demand that Washington repeal secondary sanctions affecting Iranian oil sales for a period of 30 days; the release of frozen Iranian assets, and the implementation of additional measures by the U.S. during this 30-day period, as reported by RT.
The Iranian proposal also includes a linked clause calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon in response to the aggression perpetrated by Israel.
Iran asserts that the conflict should conclude immediately upon the announcement of a preliminary agreement and that a 30-day period should initially be opened to complete discussions and finalize any outstanding details for a potential pact.
The reaction from Trump was swift, as he stated on Sunday that he considers Iran’s response «totally unacceptable.» «I don’t like it at all; it’s completely unacceptable!» the far-right leader wrote on his Truth Social account.
He reiterated, «I don’t like their letter. It’s inappropriate,» confirming statements made by the U.S. digital outlet Axios, which previously reported that both parties were just steps away from sealing a deal to halt the conflict and open discussions regarding the Persian nuclear program.
