The Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, warned that the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanese territory serves as the first tangible indicator to evaluate the genuine intent of the United States (US) to fulfill the agreements reached.

In his statements, the Persian chancellor emphasized the persistent mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar aimed at ending the conflict in Lebanon and facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington, leading both parties to agree on a roadmap for reaching a final pact within 60 days.

According to reports from Al Mayadeen, the head of Iranian diplomacy outlined other substantial components of the agreement, including the lifting of the embargo on Iranian oil and petrochemical exports, as well as the end of the economic blockade that has suffocated the Persian economy for years.

Araghchi also confirmed the release of a significant portion of frozen assets abroad, resources that will be crucial for alleviating the financial pressure faced by the country recently. He highlighted an ambitious plan dedicated to the development and reconstruction of Iran, following the aggressions and bombings perpetrated by the US and Israel.

Iranian Delegation Concludes Work in Switzerland

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Persian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, confirmed the completion of the Iranian negotiating delegation’s work in Switzerland, although he specified that technical teams will continue to address outstanding issues in the upcoming phases.

However, the spokesperson revealed an incident that marked the development of discussions: during a quadrilateral meeting, a statement from the United States was deemed threatening, prompting Iran to halt its participation in the sessions as a form of protest, reported Al Mayadeen.

Non-Compliance and Concerns in Lebanon

In this context, Baghaei emphasized Iran’s concern stemming from the non-compliance of commitments by other involved parties, particularly regarding the persistent violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon. These violations, according to the spokesperson, undermine the credibility of the process and jeopardize the hard-won progress, necessitating an urgent end to hostilities and military operations across all fronts, including Lebanese territory.

Economic and Strategic Advances

Regarding economic aspects, the spokesperson revealed that topics related to granting necessary permits for oil exports and releasing frozen assets belonging to Iran were discussed.

He also mentioned an agreement reached on a mechanism to ensure the safe passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the oil traded globally passes, noting that this is a crucial step for maritime trade security and global energy stability.

Additionally, Baghaei specified that comprehensive deliberations took place on outstanding issues, laying fundamental groundwork for initiating definitive negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement. The technical teams will continue working on the remaining essential issues to consolidate the progress made.

The spokesperson announced that an official document summarizing the main points discussed will be issued soon, which will serve as a formal basis to recap the reached agreements and outline the path forward.
