The administration of José Antonio Kast has hit a concerning milestone this month, with 19 regional secretaries resigning within the early months of their term. The most recent departure was that of the Secretary of National Assets for Tarapacá, Diego Muñoz, who stepped down for personal reasons just weeks after taking office. This figure adds to high-profile cases such as Renato Munster, who lasted only 24 hours as the Secretary of Culture in the Metropolitan Region, and Aldo Ibani in Valparaíso, who left following fraud allegations against him.
In response to this trend, opposition socialist deputy Raúl Leiva criticized the lack of rigor in appointments and demanded «a detailed account of the issues they faced.» Meanwhile, officials from the Presidential office declined to comment to Radio Biobío, raising significant concerns regarding the absence of public explanations. Political analyst Luis Felipe Vergara remarked: «What surprises one is the level of improvisation. It shows they were not yet prepared to govern.»
