On March 20, the National Association of Officials and Employees of the Undersecretariat for Human Rights (ANFUDDHH) announced a state of alarm following the recent dismissals of three members from the Commission for Victims of Institutional Violence within their division.

In their statement, the association elaborated that these layoffs adversely affected a team working under contractual agreements. They noted that the decisions were made abruptly, causing significant concern among staff regarding job security, personnel allocation, and the execution of functions in areas dedicated to the promotion and protection of human rights.

“Moreover, these actions highlight the ongoing precariousness of labor conditions within the state, particularly under contractual regimes,” they added.

In this regard, the association expressed solidarity with the dismissed employees and voiced their concern over the continuity of public policy aimed at properly addressing the reparations for victims of human rights violations. The organization believes that the implementation of such policies is compromised by decisions that weaken institutional responses and progress towards guarantees against recurrence.

Furthermore, the association completely rejected the manner in which these measures are implemented and communicated. They reiterated their commitment to public service, the defense of human rights, and the fulfillment of state obligations, emphasizing the necessity for stable and dignified working conditions to adequately perform their functions.

Lastly, the association stated they would remain in a state of alert, advocating for the rights of workers and the proper functioning of public service:

“We also call on the authorities to establish timely and effective dialogue opportunities, with the seriousness this situation demands, free from bias or prejudice against those working in this Undersecretariat,” the statement concluded.
