Former presidential candidate Jeannette Jara stated that in the recent elections, «lies won» and called on President José Antonio Kast to disclose «how much was spent on the campaign financing bots and fake news» and clarify his connections with Argentine consultant Fernando Cerimedo.

Jara’s actions stem from the arrest of a political operator of the Latin American far-right in Bolivia, who currently faces four charges, including attempted femicide against his ex-partner Nadia Beller; money laundering; domestic violence; and alleged cover-up of flights linked to drug trafficking.

During a raid on one of the properties occupied by Cerimedo in La Paz, the equivalent of $50,000 in Bolivian currency, dollars, and euros was found, alongside a «mini bot farm» used to generate thousands of social media messages through accounts artificially created by the consultant, including the 50,000 that he admitted operated in Argentina in a May 2023 interview with Infobae, in addition to others used in Chile.

Given these circumstances, Jara connected Kast’s campaign team directly to the advisor and demanded complete transparency regarding the resources invested in a digital misinformation network that, she claimed, distorted public debate during the 2025 electoral process.

The Communist Party leader asserted that she was a direct victim of this digital machinery, noting the existence of social media accounts that operated in a coordinated manner, specifically mentioning profiles like Neuroc and Dress, which were linked to Cerimedo and replicated coordinated attacks that included false audios and manipulated content.

“I believe it was evident the coordinated use that took place from some accounts like Neuroc, Dress, and others that had detected connections with Cerimedo, a coordination across the entire region. I experienced it; there were audios claiming that I was only competing to annoy people, using other words, of course, things that were all lies,” Jara stated during a tribute to Guillermo Teillier at the General Cemetery.

In statements reported by The Clinic, she harshly criticized the passivity of the media regarding these actions, arguing that despite the evidence of orchestrated operations on social networks, media scrutiny was practically nonexistent.

“The curious thing is that while it was so obvious and evident, there was very little questioning from the press regarding these types of interventions,” she lamented, emphasizing that this omission allowed the electoral contest to be decided under a climate of information poisoning. In this context, she asserted that «lies, fake news» won, a phenomenon she warned is deteriorating the country’s democracy.

The former presidential candidate of the Unity Pact for Chile praised the initiative by Deputy Juan Santana to notify Servel and file a complaint with the Public Ministry for potential information-related crimes to investigate the financing of these bot networks linked to the Argentine consultant, their influence on political campaigns in Chile, and even their connection with President José Antonio Kast.

In this regard, she demanded that the far-right leader reveal «what was actually spent on the campaign financing bots and fake news».

“I hope they make it transparent because just as they concealed it during the campaign, they are now in power and have the responsibility to be transparent with the citizens,” she asserted, focusing on the need to clarify financial ties with Cerimedo.

Finally, Jara called on the far-right to take responsibility for its collaborators, warning about the dangers this type of practice poses to the future of democracy. Referring to the harm caused to other candidates, such as Evelyn Matthei (Chile Vamos), the Communist leader emphasized that «what happened to Evelyn Matthei is unacceptable» and cautioned against the severity of money and social media being used to misinform and discredit.

«They create myths about certain individuals, and instead of combating political ideas, they focus on discrediting their opponents; democracy will increasingly lose its quality,” she indicated.

“I call on the far-right, led by President Kast, to take responsibility for what their collaborators do,” she concluded, stating that the opportunity for transparency is now in the hands of the government.
