Deputy Luis Cuello (PC) fiercely criticized the passage of the tax reform championed by the Government in the Chamber of Deputies, labeling it a «super-rich law» that serves the top 1% of the nation at the expense of undermining social rights and essential public services.

The legislator argued that the initiative acts as a «tax gift» for affluent individuals and questioned why state ministers «have not disclosed how much they will gain from this law,» also alleging potential impacts on government integrity.

«Today is a day of infamy. The Chamber of Deputies has approved a tax reform that is a law for the super-rich. A law that benefits the 1% of the population and also favors state ministers, who have failed to disclose how much they will receive as a result of this law,» Cuello asserted.

Additionally, the deputy warned that the reform will have structural effects on public health, education, and social programs, claiming that tax cuts will be offset by cuts and defunding of social rights.

«This is a law that represents a plunder of the state as it harms public health and education, depriving people of their rights through tax reductions,» he pointed out.

Finally, Cuello held the deputies from the Valparaíso Region who supported the initiative accountable, asserting that «they have voted in favor of this infamy and this plunder.»
