Maipú Ends Dog Racing: Municipality Shuts Down and Demolishes Illegal Greyhound Track
The Mayor of Maipú, Tomás Vodanovic, announced that the municipality has closed and demolished an illegal greyhound track located in the rural area of the commune, emphasizing the enforcement of a new municipal ordinance aimed at protecting animals.
«Dog racing in Maipú is over,» declared the mayor in a video shared on his social media platforms.
«Today we carried out an operation to close and demolish a greyhound track located in the rural sector of our commune. We are already implementing our new animal protection ordinance, which prohibits any form of abuse, including dog racing,» explained Mayor Vodanovic.
Thanks to this regulation, Vodanovic emphasized, «we have been able to proceed with the demolition of this completely illegal structure, which hosted dog races that facilitated their mistreatment.»
«In Maipú, we believe in protecting our animals and upholding their rights,» the municipal authority stressed, «and that is why we have decided to put an end to this practice,» he reiterated.
