Deputy Manouchehri Proposes «Project, Street, and Character» as Key Strategies for Opposition to Regain Majority, Warns: «Kast Has Lied, He Has Not Been Wrong»

The socialist deputy called for a firm confrontation against Kast’s government but warned that «denunciation alone is not enough». He proposed returning to the territories to build an alternative for growth and security capable of competing for the majority in 2029.

Socialist Deputy Daniel Manouchehri articulated a roadmap for the opposition and Chilean socialism, anchored on three pillars: project, street, and character. He expressed this in a column published on BioBioChile.cl, asserting that the left must confront José Antonio Kast’s government without ambiguity, but «not just through shouting».

«The Chilean socialism was not born to manage the fear of the powerful. It was born to change the lives of working people», he stated.

A Firm Opposition Against Kast

The parliamentarian was emphatic regarding the executive branch. He claimed that Kast came to power offering impossible solutions: to end crime, deport 300,000 people, lower taxes for the richest while protecting social rights and maintaining fiscal balance. «Because Kast has lied. He has not been wrong. He has lied», asserted Manouchehri.

In this context, the legislator from the Coquimbo Region pointed out that the consequences are already being felt in the pockets of Chileans, such as rising fuel costs, cuts to health services, increased debt, and a tax reform benefiting the wealthiest 1% while costing the remaining 99%. «The far-right promises the impossible, seeks scapegoats when it fails, and shifts the costs to the majority», he emphasized.

Return to Society

Manouchehri urged the Socialist Party to leave the corridors of Congress and return to the neighborhoods, local markets, and universities. «The left must return to society», he indicated, calling for renewed engagement with those who voted for it and even those who have stopped doing so.

He linked this observation to his district, referencing the drought affecting ranchers in Limarí and farmers in Choapa. «The climate crisis is no longer a prediction. (…) Authoritarianism jeopardizes democracies and penetrates popular sectors. If socialism does not provide its own response for that future, others will fill the void. And we already know who and with what», he proposed.

Providing an Alternative, Not Just Criticism

Deputy Daniel Manouchehri asserted in his column that the left must «regain the concept of growth» and contest the economic narrative against the right. He stated that Chile will not grow with further tax cuts for those who concentrate wealth, but through productivity, science, support for SMEs, better wages, and investment in regions.

«For salaries to suffice and money to circulate in markets, shops, and the real economy. We must grow, but grow for everyone. That is the difference between growth and development. For socialists, growth is a pathway to development», he noted.

Additionally, he warned about the upcoming challenges, starting with artificial intelligence, noting that «AI is already changing work, education, and power. The question is who sets the rules: whether we write them here or let five platforms dictate them from the outside».

Finally, Manouchehri framed everything within the electoral horizon. «A left that wants to regain the majority needs project, street, and character», he concluded.
