Original article: Destruyen ruca y espacios ceremoniales sagrados: comunidad mapuche denuncia desalojo irregular en Lago Ranco sobre tierras con Título de Comisario
In a statement released on social media, the Mapuche Community of Francisco Tripayan Aiñanco reported that last weekend, police forces conducted an eviction in the Calcurrupe area of Lago Ranco, in the Los Ríos region. The group claims that the operation was carried out to benefit an unidentified real estate developer, affecting lands they regard as ancestral territory.
The community asserts that the land is supported by a Commissary Title from 1834, a document that, in their view, validates their historical ownership of the area. They also report irregularities in the underlying judicial process and violations of due process during the eviction operation.
According to the community’s account, the eviction resulted in the destruction of a ruca and the intervention of a rewe and a nguillatuwe, both sites considered sacred ceremonial spaces in Mapuche cosmology. The organization warns that this procedure has caused cultural and spiritual damage to the family and the wider community.
The statement also targets CONADI and the National Monuments Council, accusing both entities of failing to act to protect the territory and existing archaeological sites in the area, despite previous formal requests.
Ultimately, the Mapuche Community of Francisco Tripayan Aiñanco demands a review of the judicial process, immediate restoration of the territory, and reparations for the damages claimed. As of this report’s conclusion, no public response has been recorded from the identified real estate company, the police, CONADI, or the National Monuments Council.
