INoticias.CL | Martín Erazo’s «The Artist» Arrives in Valdivia: Contemporary Circus Exploring the Intimate Universe of a Creator

As part of the fifth edition of the Flash Season Festival, the companies Los Nadies Circo and Fuego Rojo present «The Artist,» a contemporary circus performance that combines visual poetry, theater, painting, and movement, diving deep into the intimate world of a creator, straddling the line between reality and imagination.

The play, directed by Martín Erazo and written by Francisca Arce —who also performs alongside Francisca Artaza— will take place on Friday, June 26, at 7:30 PM at the Teatro Regional Cervantes in Valdivia, as a part of the festival organized by the Cultural Center Bailarines de Los Ríos.

«The Artist,» a co-production between Los Nadies Circo and Fuego Rojo, offers a sensory journey into the studio of a painter—both a real and imaginary space—where body, gesture, and image transform into creative tools.

Through a poetic and visual language, the show constructs a symbolic universe that breathes with the intensity of movement and scenic materiality.

«The Artist invites viewers into the intimate world of creation and solitude. It also reflects on perseverance and understanding art as a real job: a constant exercise of trial, error, and exploration. The performance engages with that dimension of the craft, capturing the strength and dedication that pervades every creative process,» says Martín Erazo, the artistic director of the production.

With a visually rich staging, «The Artist» invites the audience to enter the intimate universe of a creator and ponder the boundaries between the creator and the created.

The Flash Season Festival is currently one of the main showcases for contemporary dance and circus in southern Chile, bringing together national and regional proposals that engage through body, movement, and hybrid languages, while also strengthening artistic circulation across various territories in the Los Ríos Region.
