International analyst Matías Bosch has raised concerns about the rise of the «Donroe» doctrine in the region.

During a broadcast on June 2nd on the program Sentido Común! hosted by director Javier Pineda, analyst Matías Bosch Carcuro asserted that Donald Trump’s administration is executing an aggressive agenda aimed at subjugating the continent, as evidenced over the weekend during the first round of the Colombian presidential elections, while also putting many nations in the region under tight scrutiny.

Bosch explained that this plan, dubbed the «Donroe» doctrine, is not a novel situation for our countries, but rather an update of the old perception that regards Latin America as Washington’s backyard. The expert denounced that this was solidified on March 7 during the Americas Shield agreement in Miami, where right-wing leaders, including José Kast, signed unconsulted agreements to act as instruments of this policy.

He further claimed that the offensive has already taken its first form in Argentina with the election of Javier Milei, and a second move in Honduras via electoral fraud to favor Nasry Asfura. Regarding Venezuela, Bosch described the U.S. actions as atrocious, stating that the kidnapping of Nicolás Maduro and the total control over his oil funds demolish any notion that the White House seeks to restore democracy, showing that its sole purpose is to illegally dominate resources.

The analyst paid particular attention to the upcoming Colombian runoff on June 21, where progressive candidate Iván Cepeda will face Abelardo de la Espriella, whom he characterized as a «political Frankenstein» and an attorney for drug traffickers. Bosch warned that the right has fabricated a false independent candidate mimicking the hardline aesthetics of Nayib Bukele, even using a glass wall in a speech to instill artificial fear in the population.

Despite major media outlets declaring De la Espriella as the winner, the specialist affirmed that the outcome is still open and that the key will be mobilizing the 40% of citizens who did not vote. «Colombian youth, especially in public schools and universities, represents a democratic stronghold committed to social transformations,» he commented during the program, noting that fear of a misogynistic and violent agenda could activate a crucial defensive vote.

Finally, the interview addressed Cuba’s tragic situation, which is suffering from widespread blackouts and resource shortages due to the U.S. blockade. Host Javier Pineda denounced that the White House’s goal is to create an unbearable situation to justify aggression, to which Bosch concluded categorically: «This is an illegal military strategy designed to wage war against the entire population; it’s an attempt to bring Gaza to our America.»
