There is confusion and considerable frustration among various municipalities across the country regarding the lack of communication from the government about how the «benefit» of liquefied gas announced by President José Antonio Kast will be delivered.
It’s important to note that the President stated that, as part of initiatives to assist citizens facing rising fuel costs, 15 kg gas cylinders would be distributed through municipalities to families belonging to the 80% most vulnerable segment of the Social Household Registry (RSH).
However, many mayors have reported that they have not received any official communication from the government on this matter.
For instance, in statements to channel Mega, San Ramón’s mayor, Gustavo Toro (DC), remarked, «Officially, municipalities have not received any communication. Only what you know through the media.»
In the same interview, the local leader mentioned that the mayor of Paine, Rodrigo Contreras (UDI), «was present at the meeting with the President, but officially, we municipalities have not received any official document or communication regarding how this would be implemented.»
«This is concerning because many residents are already anxious. Today, I was informed by the Social Area of the Municipality that some residents have even come to demand their vouchers because the President announced it,» asserted Mayor Gustavo Toro.
Likewise, Karina Delfino (PS), the mayor of Quinta Normal, stated that she has «no idea» how the «benefit» will be delivered, explaining that during a meeting with the Subdere, the undersecretary «was also unclear about it.»
