Ñuble en Movimiento aims to create a platform where performing arts can connect, circulate, and flourish. This new festival, managed by Fundación Teatro La Matriz, will host its inaugural edition from October 9 to 18, 2026, in San Carlos.
Over ten days, the city will feature a diverse program of theater, dance, circus, and interdisciplinary works, along with opportunities for mediation, training, conversation, and networking among artists, audiences, and cultural agents.
More than just a series of shows, the festival seeks to establish a lasting space for performing arts in the region, strengthening local creation and generating new opportunities for artists and companies to connect and circulate their work.
According to Paola Castro Vasquez, executive director of Teatro La Matriz, «Ñuble has a vibrant artistic community with creators, companies, and artists producing locally, yet they often require more venues for showcase, interaction, and visibility.»
«Ñuble en Movimiento is specifically designed to create that space. We want it to be a festival that places the region’s performing arts in the spotlight, showcasing what is being created here while also welcoming new experiences and languages from other regions,» highlighted the director.
Call for Entries to Select 12 Proposals
With a strong emphasis on territorial representation, the festival is also a commitment to cultural decentralization. Its program will combine works developed in Ñuble with those from other areas of Chile, fostering the exchange of experiences and the building of networks across the country.
As part of its inaugural edition, Ñuble en Movimiento has opened its 2026 Call for Entries, aimed at artists and companies from the Ñuble region as well as creators from other regions. A total of 12 works and performance proposals will be selected, organized in three categories:
National Performance Creation: will select 2 works from regions outside Ñuble, enhancing artistic exchange and circulation between territories.
Regional Performance Creation: will select 6 works from the Ñuble region: 2 in theater, 2 in dance, 1 in circus, and 1 interdisciplinary proposal.
Small Format Regional: will select 4 proposals from Ñuble lasting between 5 and 15 minutes. These can be completed works or in-progress creations and will be presented together in a scenic JAM event.
This last category also aims to provide a space for developing works and brief formats, expanding participation opportunities and allowing creative processes at different stages to connect with other artists and the audience.
«This call is an invitation to showcase what is being created in the region and to be part of a space we want to build collectively. We are not just looking for finished works; we also want to learn about the diverse perspectives, languages, and proposals that exist in our region,» said director Paola Castro.
«Therefore, my invitation is to trust in your creative processes and understand that this first version of Ñuble en Movimiento is constructed with all of you. We want the festival to serve as a platform for Ñuble artists to connect with each other and promote their creations both within and outside the region,» emphasized the cultural manager.
Nataly De La Hoz, the regional minister of Culture, Arts, and Heritage of Ñuble, stated, «Ñuble en Movimiento is great news for the performing arts in our region as it opens a new space for meeting, circulation, and projection for our artists and companies.»
«As the Ministry of Culture, we are particularly interested in supporting initiatives that strengthen local creation while establishing links with artists from other regions of the country. We encourage Ñuble creators to participate in this first edition by submitting their works and proposals and to seize this opportunity to showcase the talent and diversity of the regional scene,» added the regional authority.
Who Can Apply and How?
Applications must be submitted by individuals over 18 years old, who will act as contacts and representatives for the festival organization. The process must be completed within the established deadline and solely through the official application form.
Each proposal must identify all individuals participating in the presentation, including performers and technical staff, and all information provided must be complete and truthful. Additionally, proposals must be available for the dates corresponding to their category and discipline.
Applicants will be responsible for ensuring they have the necessary rights and permissions for the public presentation of the works as well as for the use of texts, music, images, or other protected content included in them.
Furthermore, technical requirements must be fully detailed at the time of application and must comply with the conditions and available equipment at the festival venues.

A Festival to Strengthen the Regional Scene
One of the main challenges for Ñuble en Movimiento will be to enhance the visibility, engagement, and projection of performing arts developed in the region.
In this regard, the festival seeks to become a platform that extends beyond its ten days of programming and contributes to strengthening the cultural ecosystem of Ñuble, fostering networking among companies, creators, audiences, and sector agents.
At the same time, the inclusion of proposals from other regions will establish a dialogue between local creation and other artistic scenes, placing Ñuble within the national performing arts circuit.
The Ñuble en Movimiento project – Festival of Performing Arts for the Ñuble Region is funded by the Performing Arts Fund, Festival and Meeting Line, Regional Modality, Call for Entries 2026, from the Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage.
