Over 100 Exhibitors to Illuminate the 4th Edition of the Yungay Color Market: «Winter Warmth»

On Saturday, August 22, the Yungay neighborhood of Santiago will open its cultural spaces, museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, and local businesses to celebrate another edition of the Yungay Color Market, a community festival that has become a cherished tradition aimed at strengthening identity and revitalizing this historic area of Santiago.

Under the theme «Winter Warmth,» the event seeks to transform August’s chill into an opportunity for connection, recognition, and the celebration of the identity of one of the most significant heritage neighborhoods in the capital.

This initiative is organized by the Yungay District, supported by the Santiago Government’s Development Governance through the Borders Neighborhood program along the Alameda axis, and by Corfo RM through its Associative Network program.

«Unlike other mass events in the area, this version of the Yungay Color Market will not include road closures,» explained the event organizers.

«The festival will take place within the various venues that are part of the circuit, allowing visitors and locals to explore museums, galleries, restaurants, bars, cultural centers, shops, workshops, and businesses that will open their doors with a special programming,» organizers noted.

Over 100 Exhibitors

This edition will feature over 100 exhibitors located at Centro Nave and four other collaborative spaces: Espacio Gárgola, commemorating 20 years of Decomoda; Yungay Histórico, featuring Mundo Funghi; Casona Compañía, hosting the Arts and Crafts Fair FAO; and Colectivo Las Loicas in Plaza Libertad.

«More than just a market, we want Colores de Yungay to be a meeting point. A space to share, strengthen ties, and feel part of something larger: our neighborhood and heritage identity,» stated Harley Torres, president of Distrito Yungay.

«The event also aims to contribute to the revitalization of the Yungay neighborhood and envision a city where neighborhoods, their inhabitants, organizations, and cultural spaces play a central role in the city’s recovery for its people,» Torres added.

Among the participating locations are the Museum of Education, with games in the Patio de Los Tilos and a tour dedicated to Gabriela Mistral; Chancho Seis, featuring tributes to Roberto Parra along with a vinyl, CD, and cassette fair; Espacio 330, offering encounters with artist Fabián Zambrano and a guided tour of the exhibition «The Sweat of the Volcanoes» by Mono González; and Galería Anónima, which will remain open throughout the day showcasing contemporary art, illustration, and graphic works.

Additionally, Espacio Mixta will host exhibitions, live painting, and a beer tasting; Fundación Mecenas will open its Arts Market; Darkolics will schedule live music and stand-up comedy; and Yungay Cultural Network will feature activities including games, creation, mosaics, photography, and lambe lambe theater.

The programming will also extend to Fundación Colección Casa, DecoCalen, Centro Nave, Museo Taller, Casa Museo, Café Brunet, Teatro Novedades, and numerous restaurants, bars, galleries, workshops, and shops in the neighborhood. Highlights will include musical performances, cueca dance, folklore, circus acts, theater, chess activities, workshops, exhibitions, story-telling sessions, artisan fairs, book and plant exchanges, along with culinary and commercial proposals.

«At Teatro Novedades, for instance, the event will offer chess meetups, puppet shows, circus performances, cueca dance classes, the presentation of Tata Barahona, and a performance of «The Pergola of the Flowers» by the Uróboro Company,» detailed the organizers.

A Heritage Train

One of the goals of this new edition is to invite both locals and residents from other areas of Santiago to discover the neighborhood on foot and explore its spaces.

A train will also traverse the neighborhood, stopping at stations to allow attendees to experience and easily navigate through the different locations.

«The invitation is to explore Yungay, learn about its cultural offerings, dine in its restaurants and shops, support local entrepreneurs, and, most importantly, connect with those who keep the neighborhood’s everyday heritage alive,» organizers expressed.

Finally, it was announced that this edition will feature a security team named «Guardians of Heritage,» which will consist of monitors who will not only ensure safety but also guide the public, helping them discover the novelty in each space.

The heritage train, ready to take visitors on a tour of the Yungay neighborhood.
