In an interview with CNN Chile, PPD Deputy José Montalva stated that the party’s deputy bloc was not consulted about the agreement reached by senators of the party and the government via Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz, concerning tax invariability in the «megarreform» pushed by Kast from La Moneda.

«There was no agreement from the PPD, nor was there one from the deputy bloc. As a member of the Constitutional Commission, I found out through the press,» the lawmaker told Radio Biobío, labeling the action as «a poor political decision.»

«I am fundamentally opposed to that political agreement, but that doesn’t mean I will claim that Senator Celis has personally benefited,» Montalva added, emphasizing that it is important to respect when a parliamentarian «takes a position different from that of their party.»

Regarding the project itself, the PPD deputy expressed skepticism about the minister’s willingness to engage in dialogue or reach agreements. «It seems he has a mandate from big business, not from the citizens,» he stated.
