Original article: Delegada Presidencial de Tierra del Fuego aparece como abogada en web institucional pero no figura en registro oficial de abogados: Denuncia llegó a Contraloría

A whistleblower, who has requested anonymity, has filed a complaint with the General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic, alleging serious violations of «transparency, truthfulness, and public trust» by the Provincial Presidential Delegation of Tierra del Fuego.

This issue specifically involves the provincial presidential delegate, Margarita Norambuena Caviedes, who allegedly included a «false professional title in a government dissemination channel,» notably the official website of the Delegation.

«On March 2026, the website of the aforementioned Delegation published an official notice titled ‘Margarita Norambuena Caviedes is Appointed Provincial Presidential Delegate of Tierra del Fuego’, in which the government authority is explicitly referred to as ‘the lawyer’ Margarita Norambuena Caviedes,» the complaint states.

However, the filing further notes that «upon thorough review of the official lawyer query platform of the Judicial Branch of Chile—the only state institution authorized by law to grant such professional titles—there is no record of Mrs. Norambuena Caviedes possessing the legal status of a lawyer.»

Furthermore, it details that «her previous public service curriculum records formally indicate that she is ‘a graduate in tourism,’ highlighting a clear contradiction,» the allegation asserts.

It is noted that while the position of Provincial Presidential Delegate does not require a university degree for execution, «the dissemination of false curriculum information to the public constitutes a serious administrative offense and may also represent a criminal act under article 213 of the Penal Code (mere profession impersonation).»

As of the publication of this article, Margarita Norambuena was still listed as a lawyer on the official website of the Presidential Delegation.

In light of the above, the request—filed through a single-window system—urges the Comptroller’s Office to investigate «the validity of the information published on the official channels of the Delegation» and also to «determine the corresponding administrative responsibilities and refer the information to the Public Ministry in case it constitutes a criminal offense.»

Additionally, an immediate «rectification of the ‘false information’ published on the official website of the Presidential Delegation» has been requested.

We will continue to provide updates.
