In a bid to enhance access to healthcare and strengthen community outreach, the Health Department of the Puente Alto Municipal Corporation has inaugurated its first Community Health Device, an innovative strategy designed to bring preventive health services directly to the neighborhoods of the municipality.
The first device is located at Diego Portales with Sánchez Fontecilla and will be managed by a community doctor alongside a nursing technician. Medical consultations will be provided, along with community health activities tailored to the needs of local residents.
The Municipal Corporation highlighted that this pioneering initiative is part of the community government plan led by Mayor Matías Toledo and addresses the primary needs identified by the community through civic engagement platforms such as town hall meetings.
«Community Health Devices will facilitate the recovery of public spaces through community involvement, while also enhancing coordination among health teams, health centers, municipal authorities, and social organizations,» stated representatives from the Puente Alto Corporation.
In this context, community doctor Hans Magaña, responsible for implementing the strategy, explained that these devices «aim to collaborate with the community in prevention, healing, support, and the development of health leadership.»
With this inauguration, Puente Alto takes a significant step toward establishing a community health model that prioritizes prevention, participation, and the strengthening of social cohesion within the neighborhoods.
