Puente Alto served as the venue, with Mayor Matías Toledo hosting the Fifth Territorial Coordination Meeting, which gathered various political and social groups working to establish a political platform that addresses the pressing needs and issues faced by the community.

Among the prominent figures present were Senator Fabiola Campillai, Valparaíso Governor Rodrigo Mundaca, La Cisterna Mayor Joel Olmos, and host Matías Toledo. The mayor emphasized that this gathering «unites different social organizations, neighbors and citizens of Chile who believe in a fairer, more equal country, where the people are in charge, and we can organize ourselves to show Chile that a real alternative exists.»

The coordination space also welcomed Putaendo Mayor Mauricio Quiroz and Mapuche academic and former Constitutional Convention president Elisa Loncon, who stated: «The pleasant, important, and necessary aspect of this space is to converse and share among neighbors and companions to move forward and continue building the history of our country and our rights,» remarked the former convention member.

«The key is to connect through territoriality and social organizations to generate a joint strategy not only to resist the far-right government but to advance proposals that reclaim politics to restore the dignity of the people and Chile,» remarked Mayor Joel Olmos.

In a similar vein, Valparaíso Governor Rodrigo Mundaca reaffirmed that «this meeting reflects the unequivocal need and commitment we have to organize, because we wholeheartedly believe we have the capacity to propose a development model for Chile that is economically viable, yet socially just and ecologically sound.»

The meeting was also appreciated by independent deputy Gustavo Gatica, who sent a video message to the coordination space.

The Territorial Coordination Meeting is part of a grassroots political construction process, aiming to create a «real connection with the lives of Chilean families.» Throughout the day, various internal aspects of coordination were discussed, and a work plan was developed to continue advancing in constructing this political-social alternative.

We will continue to provide updates.
