Following two successful editions in 2022 and 2025, the ReLib book fair in Puerto Varas is set to celebrate its third edition, focusing on book creation, live music, and connections with single-teacher educational institutions in the Llanquihue province.

Once again under the slogan The [r]evolution of the book, the fair will take place on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, at Parque Estación in Puerto Varas (Decher 355), with free entry and a diverse program accessible to all audiences.

This third edition of ReLib, organized by Fundación ParqueSur and Editoriales de Chile, will feature over 50 independent and university publishers from various regions of Chile, alongside individuals involved in book creation in the Los Lagos region.

The fair will offer a series of workshops covering formats such as fanzines, mini-books, and haiku creation, as well as family storytelling sessions and the popular live illustration round, where various artists compete to illustrate a concept provided by the audience. All activities are free and open to everyone.

Francisca Muñoz, director of ReLib and executive director of Editoriales de Chile, stated that «in 2025, we had a successful second edition of ReLib, attracting over 3,200 visitors eager to explore the bibliodiversity of the Chilean independent and university publishing sector. For this year, we have prepared a similar experience, aiming to connect local creation with a broader book ecosystem.»

«We also want to maintain the family-friendly aspect of this fair, which is designed to closely explore the various publishing formats that coexist today, in addition to activities such as oral storytelling and illustration,» Muñoz added.

Educational Experiences for Students with SLEP Llanquihue

On Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3, the ReLib fair at Parque Estación will feature an exhibition of book covers created by students from the Local Public Education Service of Llanquihue.

These covers will be created throughout Book Month (April) and presented at the fair, allowing the school community to take center stage and strengthen its connection with local and national independent publishing.

Another focus of this year’s ReLib will be the Reader Meeting for Single-Teacher Rural Schools, a linkage program that will involve 380 students from the region, organized in collaboration with SLEP Llanquihue.

The aim of this initiative is to promote reading encouragement and equitable access to the book ecosystem through mediation sessions, training workshops, and the presence of the Bibliomóvil network and the newly inaugurated children’s library of Puerto Varas.

The Reader Meeting for Single-Teacher Rural Schools – ReLib will take place on Monday, May 4, at Parque Estación through a circuit of six creative stations where students can engage in processes related to publishing and communication.

ReLib – The [r]evolution of the book 2026 is organized by Fundación ParqueSur and Editoriales de Chile, with funding from the 2025 Book and Reading Fund of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage.
