Original article: Rodrigo Paz no logra quebrar la protesta: COB mantiene bloqueos y abre corredor humanitario en Bolivia
In light of the popular uprising sweeping through Bolivia, Rodrigo Paz has been unable to break the massive multisector protests led by the Central Workers’ Union (COB), farmers, transport workers, and miners who have taken to the streets for over a month to demand his resignation.
The crisis escalated after just six months of his administration, during which Paz’s right-wing measures, including cuts, privatizations, and a package of ten laws favoring multinational corporations, have raised the costs of basic services, severely impacting the population’s quality of life.
COB leaders and mobilized sectors decided to maintain roadblocks, but announced they would open a humanitarian corridor to allow the entry of food, fuel, medical supplies, and other essential goods that have been affecting cities like La Paz and El Alto, as well as other regions such as Beni and Pando.
This action will facilitate the passage of ambulances, sick individuals, and emergency medical vehicles, ensuring essential health services continue.
This decision was made during a general assembly of the COB that brought together peasant leaders, neighborhood councils, and union representatives.
Rodolfo Ayala from the Confederation of Retirees of Bolivia reported after the meeting that the protests and roadblocks will remain in place as a pressure tactic demanding Paz’s resignation.
Following the assembly, the COB’s official Facebook account announced that «the organizational line is to continue the protests» and they will keep «pressure measures active throughout the country, as per the resolutions adopted by the mobilized bases.»
The representative of the Unified Syndical Confederation of Peasant Workers of Bolivia (CSUTCB), Severo Marca, stated they have not received any formal invitation for dialogue.
«No dialogue, here we haven’t seen any invitation either,» he asserted, emphasizing that any potential dialogue should be evaluated by the organizations.
Former COB leader Jaime Solares, who attended the assembly, concurred on the dual approach: firm blockades and a humanitarian corridor, as reported by Visión360.
He noted that despite the rescinding of arrest warrants against COB leader Mario Argollo and peasant executive Vicente Salazar for their involvement in the protests, the rebellion remains strong.
«Comrade Argollo concluded that the struggle continues,» he affirmed.

The leadership reiterated that pressure measures will remain active «until the last consequences» unless an official invitation is presented and acknowledged by social sectors.
Regarding this, Solares noted that if President Paz sends a «respectful invitation to Argollo» and if grassroots organizations approve attending, a dialogue table could be considered.
