The countdown has begun. This Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, the Central Plaza of the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM) will once again serve as a meeting point for readers, hosting the 4th Rain of Books, a free fair showcasing over 100 independent and university publishers.
Organized by Editoriales de Chile in partnership with GAM, the fair will take place from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM with no entry fee, offering a diverse selection of children’s and young adult literature, narrative, poetry, essays, graphic novels, heritage publications, and various titles from across the country.
While the core of the Rain of Books will be its booths and catalogs, this edition will emphasize the direct connection between authors and audiences.
Throughout the weekend, book signings will occur at various times, including Paulina Jara on Saturday at 12:00 PM at the Mis Raíces Editions booth; Ramón Díaz Eterovic, National Literature Prize 2025, on Saturday at 4:00 PM at the LOM booth; Axel Pickett Lazo on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Five Aces Editions booth; and Daniel Jadue on Sunday at 4:00 PM at the Plebeya Editions booth.
Additionally, the signing schedule for Saturday will include authors such as Luis Peña Álvarez, Ignacio Vergara, Michel Deb, Natalia Robert, Alejandro Morales, Leo Madariaga, Martín Sepúlveda, Gianfranco Fortunatti Bustos, María Rosa Casanova, Alaska Infinita, Eliza Adonis, and Anais Mery.
On Sunday, Jorge Montealegre Iturra, Carmina Asunción, Liz Gallegos, Daniela Ríos, Aarón Jesús de la Cerda, Nicolás Cruz Valdivieso, Germán Donoso, Sebastián León, Phalka, Mayi Eloísa Martínez, and Giovanni Muñoz will take the stage.
Complementing the event, a Collective Poetry Wall will be an interactive feature available during both days of the fair, inviting attendees to create collective poems on a metal wall using words and fragments from Chilean poets printed on magnetic vinyl.
A monitor will guide this experience throughout the day, suggesting combinations, reading aloud, and facilitating discussions around poetry as a fun, everyday, and collective practice.
The fair will also feature food carts and spaces for visitors to explore, relax, and socialize, making it a cultural highlight for the last weekend of winter vacations.
With three previous editions, the Rain of Books has established itself as an essential platform for independent and university publishing, bringing the public closer to catalogs that often circulate outside traditional sales channels while highlighting the bibliodiversity of the Chilean publishing ecosystem.
