Original article: «Es graduarse con excelencia en inhumanidad e indolencia»: Senadora Cicardini critica recorte de $32 mil millones en Desarrollo Social
Senator Daniella Cicardini (PS), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, harshly criticized the decree signed by Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz, which cuts $32.721 billion from the Ministry of Social Development, impacting programs related to children, disabilities, indigenous peoples, and youth.
The parliamentarian warned that such measures directly affect the nation’s most vulnerable sectors, especially at a time when the government has been pushing an economic agenda that includes tax reductions for large corporations.
“Cutting 32 billion from the protection of disabilities, children, and infants is graduating with honors in inhumanity and indifference. While Kast’s government proposes tax cuts for their wealthy friends, they shamelessly take away even the blankets needed to keep newborns warm,” she stated.
In this context, the senator from Atacama emphasized, “Will they now recognize this cruelty, or will we have to endure an explanation akin to Cantinflas to justify the unjustifiable? Chile cannot be rebuilt by destroying the social rights they promised not to touch during their campaign,” Senator Cicardini asserted.
