Senator Daniella Cicardini and Deputy Daniel Manouchehri, both from the Socialist Party (PS), filed a complaint with the National Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, July 3, urging an investigation into the revealed incidents reported by Reportea. The incidents involve a series of chats dated between 2018 and 2023, showing that then-high-ranking officer of the PDI, Paulo Contreras, provided attorney Luis Hermosilla with confidential information regarding criminal cases, migration data, intelligence reports about Carabineros generals, and envelopes whose contents remain undisclosed.

Currently, Contreras serves as the head of the Counterintelligence Division of the National Intelligence Agency (ANI).

The complaint alleges violations of secrecy, bribery, and corruption, along with other potential offenses that the investigation might reveal.

Both parliamentarians are plaintiffs in the Hermosilla Case, and their previous complaints have opened investigatory lines in this case as well as in the so-called Belarusian Plot, which includes a complaint against ambassador Gabriel Zaliasnik, who is now under criminal investigation.

«The person who leaked state secrets to Hermosilla is now responsible for safeguarding those same secrets. This is what people need to grasp. This individual was appointed in March by Kast’s government to lead Chile’s counterintelligence. That is why we filed this complaint and demand his immediate removal; he cannot remain in this position for another day while this situation remains unresolved,» said Deputy Manouchehri.

«The government must answer a very simple question: Did they know or not? If they didn’t know, it’s a severe negligence in the state’s most sensitive role. If they did know, it’s even worse. First Zaliasnik as ambassador, now this. How many more individuals from the Hermosilla network are working in the government?» questioned the legislator from the Coquimbo Region.

The parliamentarians also announced plans to officially contact the National Intelligence Agency and the Ministry of Security to learn about the considerations made during Contreras’ appointment and the verification processes that were undertaken.
