Innovation stands as one of the three key priorities for APEC China 2026. In Shenzhen, a new idea can find the necessary hardware in just 30 minutes. Entrepreneurs refer to this phenomena as «Shenzhen speed.» Where previously the city’s vast supply chains fueled growth, today, AI and embedded intelligence are the new driving forces behind technology and industry advancement.

We have all seen robots performing dances. However, at this embedded intelligence company, the goal isn’t to create entertainers, but rather to develop versatile robots capable of solving real-world problems. The company is engineering machines with dexterous hands and an AI-powered «brain,» training them for everyday tasks such as folding laundry, setting tables, and picking up trash. Central to this initiative is the company’s open-source World Unified Model, designed to help robots understand the physical world around them.

«Thanks to government-backed projects, our robots have been deployed in senior care centers across Shenzhen to assist individuals with disabilities. These environments are highly complex, with demanding interaction and safety requirements. Our ‘Robots in Homes’ initiative has been recognized as a best practice in the Asia-Pacific region,» stated Xu Menghong, Strategy and Investment Director at X Square Robots.

Another Shenzhen-based company is equipping manufacturers worldwide with an AI-based «brain.»

Their IndustryGPT is designed to enable machines to go beyond basic «vision» to achieve understanding, reasoning, and the ability to take action.

By the end of last year, the company had provided services to over 730 leading businesses globally, with clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

«Whether dealing with large language models, AI agents, or AI-based products, these technologies will become increasingly user-friendly and accessible. This will enable companies that previously found it difficult to access industrial AI to benefit from it. This is undoubtedly the future trend,» said Shi Xiaoliang, Director of Product R&D at SmartMore.

As APEC China 2026 prioritizes innovation, Shenzhen is set to showcase how its technology and industrial ecosystem can facilitate connections between businesses, markets, and people across the Asia-Pacific region.
