The 8th Sister Cities China-U.S. Summit took place in San Francisco, themed «Joint Efforts for High-Quality Urban Development.»

More than 310 delegates gathered in San Francisco for the 8th Sister Cities China-U.S. Summit. Participants exchanged ideas on green growth, urban governance, cultural tourism, and education. China and the United States have established 288 pairs of sister provinces, states, and cities. Both sides signed five cooperation agreements and introduced 31 projects at the summit, focusing on connections and exchanges between sister cities. Participants expressed that these ties foster bilateral friendship and contribute to the stability of relations between China and the United States.

«China, the largest economy, is making wonderful discoveries and advancements. The U.S. and China have much to learn from each other, and by working together, we can tackle the world’s problems,» said Carol López, emeritus president of Sister Cities International.

«Participants expressed their willingness to continue leveraging sister city relationships to deepen local cooperation. They highlighted the immense potential, promising prospects, and vibrant exchanges at the local level, committing to strengthen the foundations of a constructive bilateral relationship and strategic stability,» stated Yang Wanming, president of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
