In an interview with El Desconcierto, Recaredo Gálvez, a researcher from SOL Foundation, assessed the «Miscellaneous Law» proposal put forth by Kast’s government. He warned that it overlooks critical structural issues in Chilean society, such as low wages, lack of guaranteed access to health care, education, housing, and the weak bargaining power of workers.
Gálvez emphasized, «There is really no national reconstruction plan behind this; it is a plan to reinvigorate the accumulation of large capital.» He noted that Kast’s project is primarily aimed at benefiting the top of the social pyramid.
He further explained, «This proposal from the government does not align with the main challenges currently faced in Chile, which are related to low salaries and the limited ability of workers to secure better wages or access timely healthcare, guaranteed education as a right, or housing that is not perpetually vulnerable to market fluctuations and the accumulation practices of construction firms.»
