Original article: ACES responde al hijo de Kast: «¿Cómo ibas a ver las marchas estudiantiles si nunca bajaste de Plaza Italia?»
The Coordinating Assembly of Secondary Students (ACES) has responded to Republican Congressman José Kast Adriasola, who criticized the recent student mobilizations in Santiago and cities like Concepción and Valparaíso through a video posted on his social media.
«Where were you the last 4 years?» Kast Adriasola queried, asserting that this «is a question no student marching today would be able to answer. This is pure political convenience.»
In response, ACES released a video stating that «the ignorance of politicians like Kast’s son regarding the student movement is absurd. While thousands of students have organized for years to defend education and demand solutions to real problems, some are only now discovering the protests from their office windows in Congress.»
«Can someone tell him to take his phone, open Instagram, search for ACES Chile, and see years and years of student mobilizations?» the organization is heard saying in the video.
«When students face issues, we organize and fight against whichever government is in power,» the recording emphasizes, challenging the Republican Congressman: «How could you have seen the protests if you’ve never descended from the upper-class neighborhood? You are only witnessing them now because they pass below your congressional office window.»
For ACES, Kast Adriasola’s video reflects «the total disconnection of part of the elite, who do not know the reality of students, thinking that mobilizations appear magically or are orchestrated by someone else.»
We will continue to provide updates.
