«It’s not ‘bad weather’; it’s the Climate Crisis knocking at our door». With this message, Greenpeace is launching a campaign to demand urgent actions that mitigate and prevent the devastating impacts of the climate crisis in Chile, as the organization announced through its social media channels and digital platform. The initiative aims to highlight that the country is experiencing «an unprecedented climate crisis in modern history,» where the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme weather events are on the rise.

Greenpeace warns that these events—including severe rains and storms, flooding, heatwaves and cold spells, droughts, and wildfires—are not isolated phenomena but «events linked to climate change» that are intensified by human activity.

In its message, the organization emphasizes that «more deforestation and destruction mean more extreme weather events like severe storms and flooding.» The campaign seeks to motivate citizens to sign a petition demanding that the Chilean government take concrete measures.

The environmental organization underscores the necessity to advance «in protecting ecosystems that are vital for climate regulation, such as forests, oceans, glaciers, and wetlands.»

These ecosystems, it points out, act as carbon sinks and climate regulators, but their rapid destruction is exacerbating the effects of global warming. Greenpeace claims that «we still have time» to act, and that citizens must raise their voices to pressure the government to make decisions that protect the environment and mitigate the effects of the crisis.
